About

Natalia and Angela in Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay

When I started the blog back in November 2007, we had just started renting out apartments in Buenos Aires as vacation rentals. The blog was simply another way to get our message out there. We also put together a list of recommendations for our guests, and when they arrive, we give them a quick tour and tell them about things they should be aware of, things they shouldn’t miss, and answer their questions throughout their stay to help them have a better time here.

But it wasn’t only our guests that were coming to me for advice. I soon realized that this information would be useful for anyone coming to Buenos Aires and, thus, it should be included on the blog. That’s what’s happened. Questions come in and I go out and do the research and then post it here for everyone.

My Mission

My mission is to give the independent traveler a manageable amount of information they can’t easily find elsewhere. Because it’s all written by one person, Angela, it should be easier for you to tell whether my advice matches your own tastes.

What I Write About

Sometimes I help people weed through the tons of information out there.

Sometimes the information isn’t readily available.

Sometimes my advice just comes from having lived here so long and being able to recommend things that people who’ve visited have enjoyed.

And sometimes the posts are about cultural tidbits I tell our guests when they arrive.

Contact Me

Many of the topics I end up writing about come directly from our conversations with guests in San Telmo Loft or The Pad. If there is something you’d like for me write about, just let me know. And, I love feedback, so please feel free to leave comments or contact me here or by email at santelmoloft(at)gmail(dot)com.

Hi Angela,
Any chance the Loft or the Pad is free during mid-March? My wife and I are planning a trip to Buenos Aires then. Some friends may come along, too.

Thanks!
Jason

Hi,
We are a family of four, 2 grown children (ages 20 and 16). We are very interested in the guesthouse, wondering about renting all three bedrooms from either Dec. 21st, 2011- Dec. 27th 2011 (basically one week) or, alternatively, around Dec. 31st to Jan. 6th.
Please let us know if it is available.
Thanks!
Tamara

Hi Tamara,

Thanks so much for your interest in The Guesthouse. It’s completely booked from December 27 – March 4. I only have one room available from Dec. 22 – 27, but that will not work with four people. All of my other apartments that can sleep four people, are also booked between Dec. 21 – 27 and Dec. 31 – Jan. 6. Well, actually, The Gallery is available from Dec. 31 – Jan. 6. It has a queen size bed in the master bedroom, a twin in the upstairs bedroom, and a sofa that’s a day bed in the living room. However, it does not have air conditioning. I’ll send this via email, too. And again, thank you for contacting us.

All the best,
Angela

Hi Angela,

I am going with my family to BA and am looking for a place for around 10 people (can be spread into some 3-4 bedrooms and different apartments) between January 4 and 10.

Could you please tell me whether you have availability for those dates and how many people can lodge at each of your options, as I couldn’t find the info in the description?

Best regards,

Emiliano Ramos

Hi Emiliano,

With more notice, we could have found a way to house 10 people in three apartments in the same building, but all of our places are booked up in early January. We only have a few days in The Loft (which sleeps three) that are available (from Jan. 4 – 8), but then it’s booked again. You might want to try AirBnB. There’s a link to their site in the sidebar here. You can search by date but it will be challenging to find a place for 10 people. Or try the company Casa San Telmo. They have some larger houses in this area.

Best of luck and I hope you have a great time here in BA!

Thanks for your reply, Angela!

I thought you’d be fully booked, but wanted to give it a shot. I know AirBnb, as a host and a guest, but it’s also very tricky to find a place for such a large group!

Will try Casa San Telmo, thanks for the tip!

Best regards,

Emiliano

Angela. Hola!
Hi we are wondering about availability for a place to stay Feb. 26th thru March 1st. W have an early flight out on the 1st, but would love to stay in one of you glorious pads.

We stayed at the loft in early January with our friend Jeremy, before we headed down to El Chalten to climb Fitz Roy and in the Torre Valley. We have many stories to share!

Anyways, can’t wait to see you guys.
