les anciens combattants, french restaurant, buenos aires

This is by far the best French cuisine I’ve had outside of France. Not only do they serve seafood, which is rare in Buenos Aires, the setting, service, and presentation were all exceptional. Les Anciens Combattants is in my top 10.

reserva ecologica, nature reserve, buenos aires, san telmo, puerto madero

The absolute best way to see the river (Rio de la Plata) in Buenos Aires is spending the day in the Ecological Reserve (Reserva Ecologico). Picnic, ride a bike, hike, enjoy the plants and flower with views of the river.

Long-term vs. short-term rentals in Buenos Aires. Our new apartment in San Telmo has a dome and it’s on the top floor of the same building as the two apartments we rent out.

La Jury at La Peña del Colorado

Live folklore shows and a rowdy crowd make La Peña del Colorado one of our favorite spots in town. Argentinean folklore features amazing guitar players with talented criollo singers. Order the pinguino, but make sure you get some soda to go with it.

Shop at Tango Brujo in Downtown Buenos Aires

I should begin by pointing out that I don’t know how to dance tango. I think it’s amazing though and I’d love to learn. So when my mom and niece were coming to visit, I decided it was time to take a couple of classes with people who know as little as I do and [...]

How do you like your steak? One would think that here in the land of exquisite meat, a simple medium, medium rare, or well done would do the trick. If only that were the case.

Yes, this post is long overdue. Let’s switch things around this time and start off with some expressions for entertainment. And, since we’ve had a lot of demonstrations (peaceful pot banging mostly), strikes (the ongoing farmers strike), and disagreements (the decidedly inept government of the Kirchners), we’ll use that as the theme.  First off, our [...]

So you’ve been listening to your Spanish lessons as you drive to work or as you exercise at the gym. You practice rolling your r’s in the mirror every morning. You’ve stuck stick-it notes on the items in your house to help build your vocabulary.  As you open the refrigerator, you mouth out the items: [...]
