Some restaurants and shops close for part of or all of January, but there’s still plenty to do. Rock, jazz, tango, theater, cinema, aerial tango dancers, I’ll highlight a few of the upcoming events below.

Some tango-loving friends of mine introduced me to La Jaula Abierta, a really cool spot for live music (watch our video below) here in San Telmo. It’s in a small, intimate bar right above Cafe Rivas on Estados Unidos and Balcarce, just a few blocks away from San Telmo Loft.

Caseros is not just a beautiful restaurant on one of San Telmo’s most beautiful avenues, it serves great food. Lamb, beef, rabbit, fish, pork, pasta, great lemonade and iced tea. The fresh ingredients and wonderful variety are so very welcome!

Restaurant Review: Les Anciens Combattants

les anciens combattants, french restaurant, buenos aires

This is by far the best French cuisine I’ve had outside of France. Not only do they serve seafood, which is rare in Buenos Aires, the setting, service, and presentation were all exceptional. Les Anciens Combattants is in my top 10.

reserva ecologica, nature reserve, buenos aires, san telmo, puerto madero

The absolute best way to see the river (Rio de la Plata) in Buenos Aires is spending the day in the Ecological Reserve (Reserva Ecologico). Picnic, ride a bike, hike, enjoy the plants and flower with views of the river.

warm candles under the dome

Long-term vs. short-term rentals in Buenos Aires. Our new apartment in San Telmo has a dome and it’s on the top floor of the same building as the two apartments we rent out.
