Location

The location is amazing. The Depto is on Defensa, the main street here in San Telmo, just four blocks from Plaza Dorrego and about six blocks from San Telmo Loft.

It’s right at the top of one of the most picturesque streets in the neighborhood, Pasaje San Lorenzo (in photo at the top of page), where you can visit the tiniest house in the city (La Casa Minima).

One of the best pizzerias in the city, Sr. Telmo, is right on the corner of Pasaje San Lorenzo and Defensa. And there’s also a great bar called Breoghan (which we mentioned here and here) where you can sit outside and have one of their cervezas artesanales on a Sunday when the San Telmo street fair packs the neighborhood and stands fill even Pasaje San Lorenzo (video of the street fair).

Or, for the history buffs in the group, take a tour through the beautifully renovated El Zanjon (right next door to The Depto), the underground tunnels once used to smuggle goods from the port to the city.
