Rustic One-Bedroom Hideaway

The Hideaway

This beautifully decorated apartment is more of a home than a vacation rental. It belongs to a tango teacher who spends most of the year in Switzerland. If you’re here in Buenos Aires for a longer-stay, you’ll appreciate the fully-equipped kitchen, collection of CDs, DVDs, and books, and love having a private terrace.

Located just 2 blocks from Plaza Dorrego (San Telmo’s main square) and 2 blocks from Puerto Madero (the most modern neighborhood in Buenos Aires), this apartment is perfectly located for those wanting to explore the old and the new.

The bedroom has a king-size bed with a firm mattress and an office space five steps above the bedroom has a double futon where two more people can sleep. As there isn’t much privacy between the two sleeping areas, it’s not really suited for two couples, rather a group of friends or family members.

For additional photos and information, read our blog post introducing The Hideaway to our collection.

Methods of Payment

Cash – We prefer that you pay in cash (US dollars) at the moment of check-in. There are no transaction fees or banking fees when you pay in cash, so this is the cheapest route.
Wire Transfer – You can pay by wire transfer to a US or European bank account. In this case, there is a $10 US banking fee to be paid by the renter in addition to the full rent. This should be paid before your arrival to ensure that it has reached our bank account by the time you are checking in.
Credit Cards – Credit cards can be used through PayPal. There is an additional 5% transaction fee charged by PayPal that will be added on to the rental amount. If you’d like to use your credit card or pay through PayPal, you will need to let us know in advance so that we can send the request (rent + 5%) to you before you leave home. You’ll have to pay this before leaving home because PayPal blocks access when you try to use your account while overseas.

We ask for a $100 USD deposit for short-term bookings. Please see our Rental Terms and Conditions for further details.

A very strategic location, The Hideaway is located on Paseo Colon which makes grabbing a cab or choosing a bus (there are tons with stops just below us) easy as can be. Walk two blocks up to Plaza Dorrego, the main square in San Telmo, or two blocks down to Puerto Madero. It’s in the same building as The Loft, The Pad, and The Gallery.

“If you want to learn the city’s history by reading the sidewalk tiles marking the homes of activists who were disappeared during the last military regime, stay here.

The same goes for if you want to make homemade empanadas and alfajores, walk to a cobblestones plaza where artists gather by day and musicians play in the evenings, go to milongas and sip the reddest of wines while watching people of all ages dance tango, or you simply want something as comfortable as home but is unlike any place you’ve ever lived.

When I first saw Angela’s place(s) on AirBnB I knew that my girlfriend and I would love it. But our decision was about more than just the wonderful space we were going to inhabit for three weeks.

We came to the capital of Argentina to see Buenos Aires but also to hear it, feel it, taste it. Most of the rental places we first saw listed were cookie-cutter studios in residential high-rises. How can you truly appreciate such a passionate culture by staying in a bland tower overlooking a shopping district similar to many ones you can find in the States?

Not only was the “Hideaway” great but Angela was an awesome host. She thinks of the important things that travelers might forget, like adapters for the outlets. And she gives you a local cell phone so you can call her if you have questions about either the place or what to do in BA. How fabulous is that? I bet most hosts hope to never hear from you after check in.

And Angela and her boyfriend, John, shared their experiences of the city and the very interesting work and travels they’ve had over the years. They’ll leave you be if that’s what you want but they’ll invite you to take a graffiti tour with them if you are into that.

All in all, one of the richest travel/living experiences I have had.”

Not sure I sent the last email. We would love to rent either, The Loft, The Pad, The Depto or the Hideway for 4 days beginning 22 Dec. to 26 Dec. Please let us know if you have availability and what we need to do to book. There will be 2 persons and we would like a kitchen. Muchas Gracias, Faye

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a night and loved it! After a long day running around the city, it’s the perfect place to come back to and relax. We actually planned our day around having down time at the Hideaway to cook, listen to music and enjoy wine on the rooftop deck. Definitely a highlight during our stay in BA.

So glad you and Josh came back to stay with us one last night before heading back. Wish it could have been a bit longer (more wine on the terrace and chill time). Stay in touch!

About Us

San Telmo Loft is a boutique vacation rental service in Buenos Aires. We've hand picked each listing in our collection to match the vibe of our cool neighborhood, San Telmo.

What Our Guests Say

"We have rented many excellent apartments around the world during our travels, but The Loft may just be our favorite. It is situated perfectly in the heart of San Telmo, where a Bohemian vibe is tangible. Angela was always accessible and extremely helpful. We highly recommend the apartment and can not say enough good things about Angela."
