The Hideaway

The Hideaway: A Beautiful Apartment for Rent in Buenos Aires

by Angela @SanTelmoLoft · 7 comments

Spacious loft with a huge terrace and a great view of the church of San Telmo. Gorgeous furniture and lots of artsy details. Tall ceilings. Fully equipped kitchen. Weekly cleaning service. Friendly, helpful neighbors. The Hideaway is a great apartment to rent while on vacation here in Buenos Aires.

The Hideaway is a large one-bedroom loft with a double-sized futon (it sleeps four)  located in the same building as The Loft and The Pad. Incidentally, I live in this building, too. It’s the coolest building on the block and just two blocks away from Plaza Dorrego, the heart of San Telmo.

San Telmo Loft on Paseo Colon

Turn-of-the-century building complete with a dome!

It’s perfectly situated for discovering San Telmo and the city in general. Tons of bus lines have stops right down on Paseo Colon, our street, and it’s only 8 blocks to the subte (Metro or subway). The Hideaway is in the back part of the building (off the main street) which means, like The Loft and The Pad, it’s incredibly quiet and peaceful.

View from terrace of San Telmo's church.

The view from the large terrace is of an old orphanage that the Spanish government has recently purchased and will convert into the largest Spanish Culture Center in all of Latin America. You can also see the top of the church of San Telmo from the terrace. This is my favorite part of The Hideaway.

Yellow sheer curtains on tall French doors

Tall French doors lead to corridor and main entrance.

But there’s much much more to appreciate about The Hideaway. Like I said, it really is a home, filled with personal touches and details you simply can’t find in most other apartments for short-term rental.

Furniture and Baskets

Beautiful furniture and great light!

You’ll find all sorts of things to cook with (casserole dishes, grill plates, a citrus juice, a toaster, baskets for bread and fruit, and more).

Bedroom in loft above living room in The Hideaway.

The bedroom is in the loft area and overlooks the living room.

The bed is divine. It’s huge and there are a lot of wonderfully Argentinean blankets for the colder months. If you want added privacy, you can close the sheer white curtains that enclose the bedroom. There’s a study just five steps up from the bedroom with a double-sized futon where another couple can sleep. There’s no door separating these two “bedrooms” but the curtains that enclose the main bedroom do provide some privacy.

There are more pictures on our Flickr site in the set The Hideaway.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a night and loved it! After a long day running around the city, it’s the perfect place to come back to and relax. We actually planned our day around having down time at the Hideaway to cook, listen to music and enjoy wine on the rooftop deck. Definitely a highlight during our stay in BA.

So glad you and Josh came back to stay with us one last night before heading back. Wish it could have been a bit longer (more wine on the terrace and chill time). Stay in touch!

Not sure I sent the last email. We would love to rent either, The Loft, The Pad, The Depto or the Hideway for 4 days beginning 22 Dec. to 26 Dec. Please let us know if you have availability and what we need to do to book. There will be 2 persons and we would like a kitchen. Muchas Gracias, Faye
