The Pad

The terrace of a two-bedroom apartment for rent in Buenos Aires

by Angela · 33 comments

Our bright and spacious two-bedroom apartment for rent is in the same building as The Loft and can comfortably sleep four. The wall of windows in the living room and sunlight above the kitchen give it excellent light. The decor matches this light and breezy feeling, making The Pad a peaceful home, perfect for those who want to feel like they are living in Buenos Aires, not just visiting it.

The building is one of the oldest and best preserved in the neighborhood. Back then a floor was much more than just a place to throw down some carpet. They were part of the decor. Thought went into the design of these original tile floors. We’ve restored the floors and left the original brick walls because this is, after all, San Telmo.

The kitchen is fully stocked with an old 1950s refrigerator, a microwave (for reheating those amazing meals you couldn’t finish the night before), a stove and oven. The skylight from the terrace highlights the mosaic designed wall.

Have breakfast at the bar in the morning light, or head up to the terrace on the second floor and get some sun. With a view of San Telmo’s church, the terrace is a great place for a romantic dinner or tapas and wine. What makes The Pad special is the details. Stained glass windows, vaulted brick ceilings, and artistic touches throughout. Natalia has outdone herself again!

The upstairs bedroom can also serve as an office or study. Just turn the bed into a sofa and pull the desk to the window.

And the master bedroom is bigger than my entire apartment (well, almost). So many of those who’ve stayed with us this past year in The Loft have come to Buenos Aires to write. The Pad is peaceful enough to inspire, roomy enough for you to get a change of scenery when you’ve reached a block, and quiet enough to make you feel like you’re in the country instead of this city of millions.

I absolutely love the pad! My friend and I are coming to study international law and economics at the UBA and UB, and we’re looking for a chic place. Is it available for rent longer term (mid-march thru june/july)? I’d love to see more pictures if you have them. :)

Hi Sabrina,

I just sent you an email. The Pad is booked, but I may be able to help you find another place. Let me know if you are set on staying in San Telmo or if you’d be interested in staying in Palermo/Belgrano (towards the north).

Cheers,
Angela

I stayed in The Pad for two months (July/August) of this year and absolutely loved it! Angela and John are the best and have become, I hope, lifelong friends too! I miss you guys, and the apartment, and the city, and the food, and the wine, and the farmers market, and the cemetery, and the supermercado, and the lomo, and, and, and, and………. I could very easily keep going for hours. I HIGHLY recommend this place to the savvy travelers out there! Screw the Ritz, I’m staying at The Pad.

It’s now called Damon’s Pad, remember?

Thanks so much for recommending us. It’s so awesome when a guest becomes a friend. Plus, you made me get out and do things I hadn’t done here. Barolo, the graffiti tour.. ok, we missed the circus and we still need to go to Fuerza Bruta. I’ve been recommending it to everyone since you went.

Miss you!!! Besos grandes!

Hi Angela, I’m coming to BsAs next year & while Palermo has been suggested by many, San Telmo seems to speak to me more!

I’m planning on few months from March 2011, my dates aren’t secured yet but would love to know what you have available in either of your places, and rates around this time?

Thanks so much,

Natalie

Hi Jason,

Thanks for contacting us. Unfortunately all four of our apartments are booked for the first week of March. You might want to look on the website http://www.airbnb.com where you can type in your dates and browse the apartments that are available. There are a lot of great places listed.

Best of luck and hopefully we’ll get to meet you guys with Henry and Sylvie while you’re here.

Hi again… It’s such a busy time of the year for us. The Pad is available only from Dec. 21 – Dec. 25 (four nights). After that, The Loft is available for the 25 and 26, but it doesn’t sleep four. The Pad is great. It has a lovely terrace with a view of the church of San Telmo. If your dates are flexible, maybe you’d like to stay there the first four nights and then come back to us to stay in The Gallery later.

I’ll send this via email, as well. We’d love to have you guys stay with us.

Talk soon,
Angela
