The Hideaway

Rustic and Romantic Loft in San Telmo

The Hideaway is a spacious loft that uses a color palette of off-white and warm brown with bursts of bold reds and yellows. The sunny rooftop terrace offers a lovely view of the San Pedro Telmo Church.

The Terrace of The Hideaway

Amazing private terrace of The Hideaway.

An inventive use of space, there are stairs that lead from the living room to the kitchen and bathroom and another set of stairs that lead up to the loft bedroom. From the bedroom, there’s one more set of stairs heading up to the study where there is a double futon. Four can sleep here, but there isn’t much privacy between the sleeping areas as they are only separated by a curtain.

Kitchen of The Hideaway

Head to the Mercado de San Telmo to buy some fresh veggies and prepare yourselves a meal at home in this fully-equipped kitchen.

Besides the fabulous terrace, what sets this apartment apart is the inventive mix of furnishings and textiles from Argentina’s countryside. A large comfortable sofa and mid-century red chair with a rustic coffee table on wheels in the living room. You’ll find loads of CDs (even a Duran Duran CD) and DVDs, books and games, and personal items of the owner who is a tango teacher in Switzerland.

Living Room of The Hideaway

Warm colors and afternoon sunshine in the living room.

The bed is divine. A four-post king-size bed made by the owner’s carpenter husband has a firm mattress and thick wool blankets from Salta to keep you warm in the winter months. And in summer months, encircle the bed with the mosquito net as there is no air conditioning in The Hideaway and it can get hot here in Buenos Aires.

Bedroom of The Hideaway

The upstairs loft space is where you’ll find the bedroom enclosed by soft white curtains for privacy.

The kitchen is fully-equipped, with casserole dishes, a grill plate, a citrus juicer, a toaster, baskets, cutting boards, glasses of all sizes, and loads of cooking utensils. Stay in one night and cook up some fresh pasta from one of the many fresh pasta stores in San Telmo.

Dining Room of The Hideaway

Have breakfast at home in the dining area or even upstairs on the terrace if the weather permits.

Located in the same building as The LoftThe Pad, and The Gallery the coolest building on the block, The Hideaway is perfectly situated for discovering San Telmo and the rest of the city. Tons of bus lines have stops right down on Paseo Colon, our street, and it’s only 8 blocks to the subte (Metro or subway). The Hideaway is located in the back of the building (off the main street) which means, like our other three apartments in this building, it’s incredibly quiet and peaceful.
